Amy Grant
Amy Grant, born in 1960 in Augusta, Georgia is considered to be one of the more talented American Christian oriented song writers.
In 1977, at the age of 16, Amy Grant signed a contract with a record company and released her first album.
The album was a huge success in the Christian music market and the songs, mostly self-composed became hits.
She has a notable achievement in evolving from the Contemporary Christian song writer to becoming a mainstream pop music writer.
Amy Grant has won multiple Grammy and Dove awards elected to the Gospel Music Hall of Frame in 2003.
Over the years in the music industry, Amy Grant has released 5 gold and 6 platinum albums.
Amy Grant majored in English at Vanderbit University after graduating from Harpeth Hall School.
Few more albums were released during this time, before Amy made up her mind to drop out of college to pursue a music career in full force.
The years 1979 and 1980 were marked by the release of My Father抯 Eyes and Never Alone, respectively.
In the year of 1982 Amy抯 life stood on the verge of a turning point career and family vise.
In June she walked down the isle with Gary Chapman and her album Age to Age forced critics to start taking her seriously.
Amy Grant抯 real stardom began with the Grant-Chapman written song, In A Little While.
The first Grammy Award she received for the Best Contemporary Performance and double Dove Awards for Gospel Artist of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year.
Around this time Amy Grant took-off on a joint touring and recording venture with the young and promising songwriter, Michael W.
Smith.
To this day, they form a great creative team, often writing songs or contributing vocals for each others albums.
